The Interview
What’s the story behind your name?
Prior to “Pine and Prosper”, my photography just went by my own name. This worked for a while, but I wanted to shift into a space that felt less about me, and more about the people I work with. I really liked the [blank & blank] name style, and wanted to jump onto the trend. My wife and I started tossing ideas back and forth, and after some not-so-great ideas, we found our winner. Not only does it just sound good together, but it really fits the vibe we’re going for. My wife and I also have a pretty dumb inside joke about pine, so that really sealed the deal.
pine verb
If you pine for someone, you desperately want to see them, be with them, or perhaps smother them with kisses. (vocabulary.com)
pros·per verb
The verb prosper means to do well, succeed, or thrive (vocabulary.com)
What services do you provide?
Pine & Prosper specializes in photography, videography, custom faux and dried florals, and ceremony arch design. We primarily provide services for weddings, but we’re down to party at any event!
Do you have a favorite service?
Video is probably my favorite because I get to be creative twice (while shooting and then while editing)
What gear do you use?
I shoot on a Sony A7iii (and have two bodies), 50mm 1.8, 20mm 1.8, 85mm 1.4, 70-200mm 2.8, Rode Wireless Go II mics, Mavic Air 2, and a Weebill S gimbal
What’s your favorite thing about being a wedding photographer / videographer?
I like being able to flex the different skills I have; interpersonal, leadership, artistic… I don’t have to niche down to one photography style because I get to do all of them (product/event/food are all at a wedding)
What makes Pine & Prosper different from other vendors?
The constant need to do more, and always growing in the services I provide without sacrificing those I already do. Being interested in other aspects of a wedding helps me be better at existing ones. Interest in planning helps me know how the day should go
What’s your favorite thing about weddings?
Weddings are a day about support, and are meant to highlight the support you have. Even if you’re eloping, an elopement showcases the support you have from your best friend. It’s a day to show-off your love and that’s cool
What kind of wedding style do you love most?
It’s a mix between just big parties (like someone just invited all their friends), and elopements (couple-only, day full of just the love between those people)
What do you believe is a common misconception about weddings?
That there’s anything you “have” to do. Besides legally, there are no real rules. If there’s something you don’t like, you don’t have to do it. If there’s something you think would be funny, do it. There’s no wedding police, no one can stop you
What kind of floral arrangements does Pine & Prosper design?
What you can imagine, we can create! Pine & Prosper works with dried and faux florals, so we’re not limited to what’s in season or anything like that
What style wedding arches are available for rental?
We currently have a triangle and a rectangle, but would love a reason to make something else!
